Exploring Kinsale, An Irish Gem in Co. Cork

It has been a bit quiet around here and that’s because we have been settling into our new lives in Kinsale. Wally is settled in and we have discovered many places where we can bring him such as bars and restaurants. Exploring Kinsale and all it has to offer has been a blast.

I wanted to share some photos of the town we now call home. Kinsale is a bright and colorful town in Co. Cork and is located at the beginning of the Atlantic Way. So far we haven’t ventured too far out of town except for Cork. Eventually, we will get a car and be able to do a lot more exploring.

Exploring Downtown Kinsale

Kinsale town may be on the smaller side but that doesn’t mean it is short of things to explore. There are many shops that sell fun keepsakes such as books, jewelry, all things wool, clothing, and more.

There are numerous cafes and restaurants throughout the town and each is unique and delightful. A few that we frequent ared the Post House, The Flying Poet, Lemonleaf, and Cosy Cafe. A bit out of town you’ll find the Bullman pub and The Spaniard.

The Scilly Trail, Kinsale

Across the bay from downtown is a hidden oasis. You can spot a bright yellow building, The Spaniard, a pub and a restaurant atop the hill. From there you can wander down the hill and find the Scilly Trail. This trail winds along the water and is peaceful. It is a pleasant walk and the trail is paved and mostly flat until the far end. At the far end of the trail, you can take a right and this will lead down a hill where you will find the Bullman, a pub along the water’s edge. Continuing on up the next hill is Charles Fort.

Exploring Kinsale is a Must

We love our new home. We are so lucky to have found Kinsale and a place to live here. It is about a half an hour bus ride into Cork City on the Cork Connect bus. There is also a bus that goes to the airport which will be handy when we decide to go on some more international adventures.

I hope you have the chance to one day visit Kinsale or just Ireland in general. We have fallen in love and the weather has been fantastic! (let’s see what I am saying about the weather come winter, haha)

Cheers!
